Position Summary:
The Allied Health Instructor is responsible for teaching various courses within the Allied Health Division. This position may teach courses at various Crowder Instructional sites. The Allied Health Instructor provides direct instruction across laboratory, classroom, and clinical environments for assigned courses within the Division. The instructor collaborates with faculty, staff, and healthcare facilities to design and deliver curriculum using effective teaching methodologies that promote student engagement and understanding, ensuring students are prepared for certification in various healthcare disciplines.
Essential Job Duties
- Teach a regular load of 15 credit hours per semester (30 total per year) as assigned by the Director of Allied Health.
- Plan and teach courses within the Allied Health Division at various Instructional Centers and within several program areas such as CNA, CMA, and Patient Care Technician (Courses are subject to change and based on enrollment and availability).
- Evaluate student performance through written exams, skills testing, and practical assessments.
- Conduct lectures, practical skills training, and simulations for various Allied Health courses.
- Assist in the design and updating of course materials to meet state and local requirements.
- Ensure all instruction complies with regulatory standards and program requirements.
- Stay current with healthcare practices and educational techniques through ongoing professional development.
- Participate in recruitment and promotional activities to attract new students to the various Allied Health courses and programs.
- Develop and maintains relationships with district healthcare organizational leaders. Works collaboratively with these other external entities to promote student recruitment, retention, and job placement.
- Assist in creating, hosting, and maintaining a program (BILT) Business and Industry Leadership Team.
- Maintain regular office hours. Generally, that would include 8-10 hours per week.
- Uses the latest supportive instructional technology and alternative delivery methods.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by a supervisor.
- Devote full time and energy to maximize student learning outcomes (including continuous improvement of student clinical experiences.)
- Continue learning through professional development activities.
- Be role models for learning behavior.
- Include students in all facets of instruction, guidance and academic association.
- Maintain confidential relationships with respect to student information.
- Respect student thought.
- Select appropriate texts and other course materials in conjunction with the appropriate division chair.
- Return student papers and exams in a timely fashion.
- Maintain grades and class status information.
- Submit required reports and deadlines.
- Serve on institutional committees as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- To satisfy DHSS requirements for CNA Instructors:
- A Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Missouri or in possession of a temporary permit from the Missouri State Board of Nursing. The licensee shall not be subject to current disciplinary action; and
- A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience as a RN and at least one (1) year experience in provision of LTC facility services within the last five (5) years (Please be specific in providing your experience).
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, students, other professionals, and the public.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Current driver’s license.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), with required current licensures and certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or closely related field preferred.
- Experience teaching in a high school or college health science or nursing program preferred.
- Experience with or knowledge of community college students preferred.
Information Technology abilities
- Ability to operate a computer using a Windows environment.
- Ability to operate a computer within the Crowder College network environment.
- Ability to utilize all relevant computer programs and systems.
- Ability to utilize email.
- Ability to utilize basic Microsoft Office.
- Ability to use a learning management system (Canvas).

Working Environment
- Generally indoors in a normal classroom, lab, or clinical environment with minimal exposure to temperature changes, noise, dust or chemicals.
- Normal college working hours but adjustment of hours involving evening and/or weekend work may be required.
- Travel to other instructional sites required.
- A neat appearance and appropriate businesslike apparel are required.
