SUBJECT: 6th annual Morse Park Trout Season Kick-off set for March 1

Neosho, MO – Spring is just around the corner, and that means it’s time for one of Neosho’s most anticipated traditions—the Trout Season Kick-Off! Anglers of all skill levels are invited to join the excitement on March 1st at Morse Park’s Hickory Creek as the catch-and-keep fishing season officially begins.

Missouri residents and nonresidents between the ages of 16-64 are required to have a valid fishing permit and trout permit, unless they meet exemption criteria. A full list of exemptions can be found at mdc.mo.gov/permits/permit-exemptions.

Festivities will take place near the Coler Street bridge in Morse Park, beginning with a welcome from City of Neosho officials just before the Neosho Fire Department sounds the siren at 6:30 a.m., signaling the official start of fishing. Later in the morning, Neosho Parks and Recreation and Neosho Park Board, will serve up hamburgers and hot dogs—generously donated by area businesses—starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Morse Park ball field parking lot, available while supplies last.

“There’s just something special about this time of year,” said Kenny Balls, Neosho Parks and Recreation Manager. “Watching folks enjoy a peaceful morning near the water, casting a line, and making memories—it’s what makes this event so enjoyable.”

Mark your calendars and get ready to cast your lines—Trout Season Kick-Off is almost here!
