CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT
THRIFT STORE MANAGER

Position: Thrift Store Manager
The FFAA Thrift Store Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the thrift store, balancing nonprofit business operations, customer satisfaction, and community impact.
Duties and responsibilities are detailed in the job description which follows and may include other duties as assigned by the FFAA Board of Directors.
Compensation:
-
Hourly pay shall be $ per hour, to be paid twice-monthly in twenty-four payments, subject to required employer withholdings. Payments shall be made via Direct Deposit.

The wage shall be subject to review by the Manager and Board at the end of each calendar year.
Hours of Work:
-
These duties are expected to require a 28 hour workweek (“workweek” is defined as Monday – Saturday with at least 4 of 7 days to be scheduled workdays). Additional hours for events such as the annual city-wide garage sale may be added (but not “offset” by regular hours)

Work hours will be determined by the Manager and members of the Board based on Thrift Store needs.

The Thrift Store will be open to the public on all national holidays except Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
Paid Time Off:
-
Vacation, sick leave, and personal time off will total 12 days per calendar year. Paid Time Off will not accrue.

The days may be taken at the Manager’s discretion.

The Manager is responsible for seeing that the Thrift Store is adequately staffed unless an emergency renders that impossible.
Reimbursable and/or Business Expense
-
FFAA maintains credit cards associated with accounts used for online ordering of Thrift Store supplies; these cards may be used for reasonable and necessary expenses of a non-personal and job-related nature, which are incurred for the benefit of FFAA. Receipts, with item descriptions, are to be turned in to the FFAA bookkeeper in a timely manner.

Purchases over $100 must be authorized by the Board prior to being acquired unless within pre-approved ordinary and necessary expenditure categories.

In the event that the Manager is unable to use any of these cards, FFAA agrees to reimburse the Manager for reasonable and necessary expenses of a non-personal and job-related nature, which are incurred for the benefit of FFAA.
Continuation of Contract:

The term of this initial Contract shall be effective on signing and shall continue until terminated by either party.

During performance reviews, conducted annually, the Manger and the Board shall evaluate the FFAA Thrift Store operational needs, adjusting as necessary and by mutual consent Manager and Board roles and responsibilities.
Termination of Contract:
Either party may terminate this employment contract by giving four weeks’ written notice. The Board may terminate the contract immediately without notice if the Manager commits a crime involving moral turpitude, is charged with or convicted of a felony, or willfully violates any federal, state, or local laws affecting the Adoption Center.
Integration:
This contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties, and both parties acknowledge that there are no other agreements, oral or otherwise, that have not been fully set forth in the text of this contract.

Thrift Store Manager’s Duties

Responsible for:
Staff
-
Creating the monthly work schedule (adhering to total hour limits as set by the Board); overseeing the work of paid and volunteer staff, as well as AARP staff.

Conducting annual performance reviews of store staff.
-
Recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, taking disciplinary action in re staff and volunteers.
Store
-
Maintaining a clean and safe store environment throughout the building, with special attention to the organization and safety of the sales floor.
-
Maintaining needed supplies, staying within Board-set limits for purchases of any “non-ordinary” items
-
Arranging for repairs, maintenance, etc. for the store.
-
Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, including staff decisions as to merchandise pricing and display on a fully-stocked floor.
-
Being a hands-on supervisor, working wherever most needed throughout the store if managerial tasks allow.
Advertising
-
Developing monthly sales calendar, scheduling/announcing the calendar and other special events at the store through print material and frequent, regular social media posts.

Planning how items from special events, particularly the annual City Wide Garage Sale, will be received and handled.
Office
-
Performing general office duties (get mail, answer emails, handle complaints, compile receipts, etc.)

Organizing documents for bookkeeper: keeping track of purchase receipts (Dollar General, Lowes, Walmart, Walgreens, Sam’s Club, Amazon); picking up bank deposit receipts, reconciling and assembling daily sheet documents; verifying/submitting employee and AARP timesheets as required.
Communication
-
Maintaining a good relationship with staff and customers, addressing comments
or concerns in a timely manner.

Maintaining a relationship with relevant third parties (ie landlord, AARP contact)
-
Welcoming new volunteers and working constantly toward recruiting more.

Serving as contact in the event of ADT alarm activation and subsequent police investigation; serving as contact person for weather/emergency store closing and subsequent re-opening.

Reporting monthly to the Board; following-up on directions/suggestions from the board.
-
Consistently and consciously striving to increase revenues and/or decrease cost; consulting if necessary with the Board in re ideas.
