    Position Summary
    Provide leadership functions for all library operations, including strategic planning, policy development, staffing, budget oversight, resource allocation, instruction, maintenance of the library’s electronic information environment, and evaluation of library resources and services to support the library information literacy program, lifelong learning, and overall mission of the college.
     
    Essential Job Duties

    • Supervise daily operations of the library involving collection development, acquisitions, inventory control, cataloging, circulation, reference, interlibrary loan, and instruction.
    • Plan, develop, and implement the library budget.
    • Develop/oversee library policies and procedures.
    • Oversee and teach in information literacy instruction.
    • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate library personnel.
    • Collaborate with faculty to develop strategies for library instruction and research, serve as a resource for information literacy and librarianship, and develop course integrated library collections.
    • Supervise and utilize Web 2.0 technologies to extend library services and resources to all instruction sites to benefit distant learners.
    • Supervise and train with integrated library systems, such as: FOLIO, Evergreen, Sierra, Polaris, Attrium, etc.
    • Provide oversight and expertise in library technology applications, including selection and maintenance of hardware, software, and audiovisual equipment.
    • Represent the library on college committees and task forces as required or assigned.
    • Participate in professional meetings at the local, regional, and state levels, such as: MOBIUS and MOREnet meetings.
    • Actively participate in professional library associations, specifically American Library Association and Missouri Library Association.
    • Serve as liaison to the Friends of the Library association, process gifts, schedule programs, and facilitate the annual book sale.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs/CAO.
     
    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association.
    • Three years of supervisory experience in reference, instruction, or circulation at an institution of higher education or equivalent.
    • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Experience with learning management systems and web technologies such as: Canvas and LibGuides.
    • Experience in integrated library systems management.
    • Experience working in a consortium environment, such as MOBIUS.
    • Demonstrate sensitivity as it relates to students’ use of the library, maintaining confidentiality in the use of library materials.
    • Ability to engage in a team effort to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, and the public.
     
    Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Three years of supervisory experience in reference, instruction, and circulation at an institution of higher education in a community college environment.
     
    Information Technology Abilities
    • Ability to operate standard office computers and software.
    • Ability to operate integrated library systems and programs.
    • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office 365 applications software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
    • Ability to use Jenzabar, a fully integrated software system that powers academic and administrative processes for the campus community.
    • Ability to trouble-shoot operations of audiovisual equipment.
     
    Positions Supervised
    • Library staff and work-study student assistants.
     
    Working Environment
    • Generally, indoors in a normal office/library environment with minimal exposure to temperature changes, noise, dust or chemicals.
    • Normal college working hours but adjustment of hours involving evening and/or weekend work may be occasionally required.
