    The Neosho School District is searching for a Director of Communications for the 2026/2027 school year. 

    Plans and conducts the District’s communication program to support the educational programs and services of the District by keeping the staff, students, parents and the public informed of the District’s programs, accomplishments and point of view in accordance with District policies and procedures.  Prepares and distributes fact sheets, news releases, photographs, and audio/visual recordings to media representatives and others who may be interested in learning about the District’s programs and services.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervises and coordinates the preparation of District publications, ensuring quality
    • Assists the Board of Education in setting, implementing, and evaluating public relation/marketing goals
    • Serves as liaison between the District and the news media; produces and distributes news releases including all print and audio/visual materials; and organizes news conferences
    • Serves as a consultant in the preparation and production of informational and promotional materials prepared by school personnel
    • Plans and designs communication strategies to inform the public about specific problems or situations
    • Serves as a source of information about the schools to individuals and groups from the community
    • Facilitates customer service efforts, including training with the staff
    • Oversees District Brand and Logo Licensing agreements and trademarks
    • Is accountable for a communication audit and analysis on a regular basis
    • Supervises website content
    • Makes sure website is updated at least weekly
    • Provides assistance to maintain website format and navigation to ensure continuity and standardization
    • Evaluates, tracks and reports usage of the District website and recommends improvements to existing internet site for increased effectiveness
    • Proofreads and edits content for online publication
    • Attend School Board and Administrator meetings
    • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent

     

    Qualifications 

    Education/Experience

    Education:  Four-year degree preferred, or requisite experience in a public relations/communications field

    Experience:  Successful communication experience required

    Must pass a background check through the MO Highway Patrol
