The Crowder College Longwell Museum presents "Camp Crowder: An Exhibition of Artifacts" for public viewing December 4 - January 18. A closing reception will be help January 18 from 5 - 7pm. Located in the Elsie Plaster Community Center, the museum is open Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm, closed weekends and holidays.

Camp Crowder soldiers arrived just five days before the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. Providing technical training to thousands, Army Signal Corps soldiers learned radio operations and high power station maintenance. Trained soldiers served overseas in Europe and the Pacific. Camp Crowder also housed some 2,000 German POWs. On post, soldiers enjoyed movie theatres, athletic teams and visits from celebrities on USO tours. (armyhistory.org)
