SUBJECT: City of Neosho Plans for Rocketdyne Park Inclusive Playground Community Preview

NEOSHO, Mo. — The City of Neosho is excited to introduce plans for the Rocketdyne Park Inclusive Playground, a new accessible play space planned for Rocketdyne Park. The community is invited to get a first look at the project during a Community Preview on Thursday, September 10, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Spring Valley Golf Course Conference Room.

The Rocketdyne Park Inclusive Playground is being designed to provide opportunities for children and caregivers of all ages and abilities to play, explore, and enjoy time together. The approximately 8,844-square-foot playground will feature accessible and inclusive play elements, including fully ramped access, specialized seating and handholds, inclusive swings, sensory-friendly spaces, educational and imaginative play features, safety surfacing, and ample shade.

The City is working with Unlimited Play, a nonprofit organization specializing in the planning and development of inclusive playgrounds, and Little Tikes Commercial on the project. An Inclusive Playground Committee made up of community members and project partners has also been established to assist with fundraising, sponsorship development, community outreach, and project promotion.

The Phase 1 fundraising goal has been established at $650,000, with the City of Neosho committing $468,000 toward the project. Fundraising efforts are underway to help complete Phase 1 and provide opportunities for the playground to grow in the future.

During the September 10 Community Preview, attendees will be able to view playground renderings and plans, learn about the inclusive features incorporated into the design, and speak with members of the Inclusive Playground Committee. Attendees will also have the opportunity to walk through the future park area to better understand where the playground and other planned amenities will be located.

Information will also be available about sponsorship opportunities and ways individuals, families, businesses, civic organizations, churches, foundations, and other community partners can help support the project.

There is no formal presentation scheduled during the Community Preview. Community members are encouraged to stop by anytime between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. to see the plans, ask questions, explore the future site, and learn more about supporting the project.
