Crowder College Social Sciences hosts the Raise Your Voice event
For this month’s History Symposium, Crowder College Social Sciences will feature the annual event Raise Your Voice, “Celebrating the songs that sing America’s story.” “History doesn’t just happen in books—it is sung, shouted, marched to, and played at full volume. Raise Your Voice: Music of Patriotism and Protest explores the ways Americans have used music as a tool of public commentary,” stated Dr. Denna Clymer Crowder College Social Science Division Chair and Instructor. “Part history lecture and part live concert, Raise Your Voice examines how music can both reflect the times in which it is created and become a force for changing them. The presentation features both history lecture, and live performances by local musicians, bringing these songs—and their history—to life.” The event will be held on October 8, at 6pm in the Wright Conference Center, located on the 2nd floor of the Arnold Farber building at Crowder College Neosho, 601 Laclede Ave., Neosho, MO. Like all History Symposium events, funding has been made possible by the Missouri Humanities Council.
