DEFINITIONThe class title of Police Sergeant within the Police Department is assigned to the patrol division. The class title of Sergeant is broken down into four ranks: Probationary Sergeant, Sergeant I, Sergeant II, and Sergeant III. Sergeant III rank performs a higher and more complex level of duties.
