• Regional Developments

  • As many of you are aware from recent news, the announcement has been made regarding the closure of the Tyson plant located in Noel, Missouri. For several years now, the Neosho Area Chamber has been dedicated to addressing regional impacts. This recent development has elevated into a highly significant and pertinent matter, not only for McDonald County but for the entire surrounding region. The workforce of Tyson makes up nearly a quarter of the total employment in McDonald County. These individuals are not just employees, but members of the community who contribute by supporting local businesses, purchasing essentials like fuel and groceries, and sending their children to schools within the region. The repercussions of such a substantial closure will be felt widely, and we stand ready to extend our support in any way possible.

WeI recently spoke with John Newby of the McDonald County Chamber, who conveyed their "rapid response" mode to the situation. Informative Lunch & Learns have been scheduled to enlighten the community about the economic ramifications. Additionally, discussions are underway with State Officials to address the situation comprehensively. John also mentioned that they have arranged a Job Fair for next Wednesday and have extended an invitation to our members who might be interested in participating. You can reach out to the McDonald County Chamber at 417-223-8888 or info@mcdonaldcountychamber.org if you are interested.

Furthermore, the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce has strategized to intensify our efforts in promoting our Job Posting Page, transforming it into a valuable resource for the entire area. Chamber Members always have the ability to advertise their position vacancies for no charge with the NACC.

Mark your calendars for our Fall Job Fair, scheduled for October 3rd. We are currently finalizing the timings to ensure accessibility for those who require our services. Our collaboration with the McDonald County Chamber has indicated that the October 3rd date aligns well with the circumstances. Times will be announced soon.  Meanwhile, we will continue broadcasting available job opportunities on our website/social media pages for the benefit of our members.

We are here to support you in any way we can.
