• Honor Flight Radiothon

JOPLIN, MO - The 3rd annual radiothon for Honor Flight will be on August 9, 2019, from 6 am to 6

pm. The radiothon’s goal is to raise money for veterans to fly to Washington, D.C. and visit their

memorial at no cost to them. There is typically a two year waiting period for the veterans, with

terminally ill veterans moving to the front of the line. Veterans of WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars

fly out of Springfield to Washington D.C. on a round-trip, one day flight. There, they get to visit the

memorial. Their goal this year is to send at least 20,000 veterans, with it typically costing

$100,000 to fund each flight. Three flights take place a year, and the next two flights are set for

    August 27th and October 22nd.

Honor Flight of the Ozarks came to life in 2005 to honor our veterans for the many sacrifices they

have made. Through donations, Honor Flight has been able to fly 21,659 veterans and 18,463

guardians in 2018 alone, including veterans of WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and any

terminally ill veterans. Since Honor Flight’s first launch, they have been able to send a total of

223,584 veterans and 142,423 guardians. There are currently thousands of veterans on a national

registry to be able to experience Honor Flight, so any and all donations are very vital to this
