    Job Summary: Administer the medication and treatments of residents. Provide direct care to residents.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    1. Responsible for working hours as scheduled. Routine attendance is required.
    2. Participates in daily shift to shift report.
    3. Administering and documenting medication and treatment as directed by the licensed nurse in accordance with physician orders and the resident's plan of care.
    4. Maintaining infection control measures and resident dignity during medication administration procedure.
    5. Observing, recording, and reporting symptoms, changes in the condition of residents and changes that could be related to medication interaction, adverse drug reactions, or a side effects of medication and reports to the licensed nurse.
    6. Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner while keeping medication areas, including medication room and carts and any other medication storage areas clean and orderly at all times. 
    7. Monitoring medications to ensure they are available and refilled by the pharmacy as required by Medicalodges. Inc policies and procedures and state and federal requirements. Reporting irregularities in the availability of medications timely to the licensed nurse.
    8. Obtaining and reporting vital signs and weights on residents as assigned and directed by the licensed nurse and in accordance with physician orders. 
    9. Providing a comfortable, orderly and clean environment, as well as inspecting, cleaning, and monitoring equipment and supplies in order to provide resident safety.
    10. Assisting in and providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) of the residents.
    11. Assisting in answering call lights and assisting Certified Nursing Aide's as needed and as directed.
    12. Auditing previous shift's documentation of medications and treatment records and reporting irregularities to the licensed nurse.
    13. Understands and complies with Medicalodges, Inc policies and procedures, state and federal requirements.
    14. Attending interdepartmental, and corporate meetings as directed.
    15. Promoting the elimination of hazards and accident prevention.
    16. Participating in QAPI performance improvement plans.
    17. Completing Medicalodges, Inc state and federally required trainings.
    18. Other duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications
    • Preferred High School Diploma or GED
    • Completion of state approved Medication Aide/Medication Technician course
    • Current Medication Aide/Medication Technician certification
    • Knowledge of safe medication administration and medication adverse effects
    • Knowledge of the Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining to medication administration
