    SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Trust and Financial Center Manager, responsible for the management of personal trust accounts, including fulfilling requests for distributions, answering questions, providing tax information and setting investment objectives.  Assists with the development and retention of personal and corporate trust business with the objectives of profit for the Bank and quality service to customers. Participates in the development of new business from existing or prospective customers and cross-selling opportunities within the Bank.
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
     
    Provides support to Trust and Financial Center Manager in directing the overall activities of trust and retail investment services to maximize profitability and growth of customer base.
     
    Performs all tasks related to Trust Department account record keeping, including income and expense processing, customer disbursements, corporate bond activity; assists with management of short-term cash investments, maintenance of tickler system and reporting for trust accounts as outlined in trust agreements.  Tasks will include compiling, processing and balancing information in compliance with department guidelines.
     
    As required, buys/sells stocks, bonds, government issues, etc., and documents such transactions.
     
    Ensures all quarterly, semiannual and annual activities are accurately completed, including charging of appropriate trust fees, preparation of information for tax returns and regulatory reports.
     
    Originates new trust sales from existing or prospective clients and provides referrals for other bank products and services.
     
    Receives and answers telephone, mail and/or personal inquiries from current and potential customers regarding the Financial Center’s products and services.
     
    Works with Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA’s), including Trust Department self-directed IRA’s and Bank IRA CD’s.
     
    Provides support to Trust and Financial Center Manager in the preparation of reports for Board of Directors and Trust Committee meetings and regulatory reporting.
     
    Works with the Trust and Financial Center Manager and Trust Department staff to ensure the activities of the Trust Department are effective and efficient while providing courteous service.
     
    Prepares and types a variety of correspondence, checks, forms and reports.
     
    Maintains educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and workshops and involvement in professional, civic, and community groups in leadership positions.

    NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
     
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    This position functions as a lead position in the Trust and Financial Center.  Has input to Trust and Financial Center Manager on performance of department employees, but does not directly supervise.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Possess a four-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with a major area of study in accounting, finance, or comparable discipline.  CPA preferred.
     
    Possess a minimum of three to four years of professional work experience in accounting, trust administration, investment services or practice of law.  Professional designations in related areas are preferred. 
     
    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
     
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
     
    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
     
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    Must have the ability to operate PC and printer, copy and fax machines and telephone.  Must have good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs.  Ability to operate and modify trust department software.   Advanced PC knowledge.
     
    KEY CONTACTS--Internal and External
    Has occasional contact with business leaders, accounting and legal professionals to promote Trust Department and bank products and services.
     
    Has occasional contact with brokerage firms.
     
    Has occasional contact with industry, trade and community groups regarding current business activities, opportunities and problems.
     
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    Valid driver’s license.
     
    Ability to be bonded by Bank’s surety company.

    Position may require occasional overnight travel to attend various training sessions.
