    PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT SEASONAL EMPLOYEE

    The purpose of this position is to provide part-time seasonal support to the Parks Department to assist with any duties related to our parks which can include trash pickup, mowing/trimming, parks clean up and other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXCERCISED
    Receives supervision from the Parks Director. Exercises no supervision.

    EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Important responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:
    Essential Responsibilities and Duties
    1. Removes trash and debris from ditches, right of way, City property within City parks.
    2. Maintains restrooms in City parks.
    3. Assists with any seasonal parks events.
    4. Mows and Trims City parks.
    Other Important Responsibilities and Duties
    1. Inspects and maintains equipment
    2. Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Knowledge of:
    1. Basic maintenance procedures and safety procedures.
    2. Basic Mechanics
    3. Equipment Operation.
    Ability to:
    1. Adjust work schedule for emergency weather conditions.
    2. Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work in the area of work assigned.
    3. Operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner.
    4. Perform heavy manual labor.
    5. Ability to regularly work in extreme temperatures such as heat or cold from working outside, along with exposure to moderate to loud noise from using mowers or other equipment.
    6. Bending, stooping, and Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
    7. Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles and/or vibrations.
    8. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    9. Follow all safety rules and regulations of the Parks Department.

    EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
    Must be 18 years of age or older, High School diploma or equivalent, or currently attending High School and Drivers License preferred.
    Miscellaneous Requirements
    1. Will be subject to background investigation.
    2. Must successfully complete pre-employment substance abuse testing.
    3. Will be subject to random substance abuse testing.
