    The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include toddlers and/or preschool age children; develops partnerships with parents/childs caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in program. Lead Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies; and works collegially with other staff members of the Child Development Center.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Duties:

    Develops and implements age appropriate curriculum and classroom environment to nurture and stimulate all domains of childrens development in their care.

    Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being.

    Must be able to manage confidential information.

    Develops and implements age appropriate curriculum and classroom environment to nurture and stimulate all domains of childrens development in their care.

    Prepare developmental progress reports as needed and report these findings to the parent/guardians at the fall and spring semester parent teacher conferences.

    Completes orientation of the classroom with parents and establishes an ongoing, open communication system.

    Assist families with children's transitions from toddler to preschool and from preschool to kindergarten.

    Completes daily meal and attendance records.

    Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline.

    Assist with the supervision of staff and volunteers for child care setting, completes biannually performance evaluations of Teacher Assistants and reports any staff concerns to the director.

    Ensures that the Assistant Teachers are kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program, Lead Teacher Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, training received.

    Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities, completes at least the 12 required hours of clock training each year per state licensing.

    Education, Experience, and Licenses

    Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.

    Minimum one year experience required for this position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Teaching certification for this position is preferred but not required.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40 pound child.
