  • Posted: 05/10/2019

The Jefferson Street Campus is seeking a 9-12 Language Arts teacher for the ‘19-’20 school year in an alternative high school setting. This role requires an individual who is creative, resilient, empathetic, highly motivated, adaptable, and committed to the mission of serving at-risk youth.

In addition to the primary ELA teaching role with preferred certification he or she would be required to teach elective courses including but not limited to FACS, Health, and/or Foods. Although applicants need not be certified in these culture core areas, they must have the background knowledge and skills to deliver effective instruction.

Applicants must embrace a growth mindset, be a team player,  and be willing to perform extensive duties including all-school supervision, committee work, conference attendance and presentation, counseling students, managing technology, and working family dinner events among and along with other district/campus goals.

It should be noted that in the alternative setting, teachers must develop their own high-interest and project-based curriculum as well as work collaboratively with fellow staff on cross-curricular and school-wide initiatives. The Jefferson Street Campus aims to motivate and inspire students who struggled  in the traditional high school environment, so teachers must continually find creative means to engage them.
