• Career & Technical Education Center Office/Instructional Assistant

    Provides office and instructional support functions for high school programs at the Crowder College Technical Education Center.
     
    Essential Job Duties

    • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the CTEC Office
    • Type or key in a variety of documents, composing correspondence as directed and proofread work for accuracy.
    • Organize and maintain the office filing system. File correspondence and other documents as required utilizing computerized database and spreadsheet programs in addition to manual systems.
    • Answer telephones and greet visitors, respond to questions, take accurate messages as necessary.
    • Assist in maintaining the student database.
    • Prepare items for dissemination or publication including certificates, awards, social media communication, and student handbooks.
    • Organize and coordinate special events such as open houses or BILT meetings.
    • Proctor exams as needed.
    • Assist teachers in maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the ability and interest of students.
    • Under the direction of the classroom teacher, reinforce or reteach skills previously learned.
    • Support building-wide work-based learning initiatives and additional efforts to promote career preparedness.
    • Assist in coverage of classes in the absence of classroom teachers.
    • Perform other assigned duties and tasks appropriate for the position.
     
    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must have or be able to obtain a Missouri Substitute Certificate (either Content Substitute or Career Technical Substitute)
    • One year full-time related work experience.
    • Well-developed spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
    • Accurate data entry skills required.
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks and remain calm during frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, other professionals, staff and the public.
     
    Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Prior experience working in a classroom setting

    Working Environment 
    • Classroom and shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals in the shop setting.
    • Indoors in a normal office environment with minimal exposure to temperature changes, noise, dust or chemicals.
    • Normal school hours with some adjustment of time for weekends and evenings.
    • A neat appearance and appropriate businesslike apparel are required.
