Any community member wishing to volunteer can receive more details and sign up by emailing Parker-Collier at kpcollier.habitat@gmail.com or calling 417-451-7992. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Neosho Area Habitat for Humanity is in need of volunteers at their current work site in Neosho on May 3.  The work day is being sponsored by State Farm and any area resident willing to lend a helping hand to construction efforts is encouraged to volunteer. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building decent and affordable housing for families in need.\n\n\n\n"It's great to work for a company like State Farm that supports these kinds of initiatives and allows me the flexibility to offer my assistance as well\," said State Farm agent Justin Carnahan who will be taking part in the May 3 work day.\n\n\n\nExperience in the construction field is not required but "some general knowledge would be helpful\," according to Tom Pellegrin\, Construction Manager.  He encourages those familiar with construction to bring some basic tools with them such as a measuring tape\, pencil\, hammer\, and utility knife.  There will be a variety of jobs volunteers of all skill levels can assist with that range from helping install drywall to simple cleanup work.\n\n\n\nVolunteering with Habitat can be a rewarding experience\, offering the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others\, meet new people\, and even learn new skills.\n\n"I have always enjoyed volunteering\, supporting\, and working to improve the Neosho community\," Carnahan said. "It's what makes our community so special to me and I love getting to share that."\n\n\n\n"We serve residents of Newton County who are in need of adequate housing that meets income guidelines\," said executive director Kathy Parker-Collier. Habitat homeowners purchase their homes with an affordable\, zero-interest mortgage.
